So this year, unlike AS media, i didn't work with someone from my class. We have two A2 media classes and when me and my friend put forwward the idea of working together, the teachers were a bit wary but we manaaged to convince them.
Problems have arisen and editing was one of them. We had to use our free periods to get together to edit the footage and we realised how long it was taking. we decided to create the whole video using the band footage and then add in the storyline footage as we filmed it.
First edit:
Me and Eddie came to doing the first edit and knew, from the storyboard what we intended to do but found ourselves disagreeing on a lot of ways to do things, which wasted a lot of time.
We then chose to edit the footage on our own in our lessons and then if the other person didn't like what had been done we'd talk about it and make changes.
Second edit:
Eddie then edited footage for half of the video.
Third edit and following edits:
I edited the second verse, the chorus, the bridge and another chorus but left the ending.
The ending was left for a few weeks because we knew the storyline would fill in the gaps. However when we were adding in the storyline shots we realised that we would have to fill the end with shots of the band otherwise it won't be conventional and will just feel like all the storyline has been crushed into the end of the song.
We wanted to use quite a few effects in the video to make it interesting for the audience to watch. For example, we used the 'texture' effect on one of the shots, we overlapped two shots and used the texture effect to make both shots play on top of one and other at the same time with the colour being quite bright and a colour close to sepia.
But when it came to editing we found that each doing stuff on our own meant that the video was more effective as it had ideas from both of us not compromises on ideas. Solo editing meant eddie could create his idea of split screening and i could have my idea of darkening the storyline shots to make them look more cold and show the mood of the storyline.
