Magazine Advert Developement

When i started creating the advert, this was the draft of the album cover. I stretched the image over an A4 size page on PUBLISHER (wanted to try that out before photoshop) and started from there...









First Draft - Publisher:

 



Here is my attempt to create one on publisher, i tried to use the technique used in noel galagher's high flying birds advert and get a black boarder around the image.
I just didn't think this looked very proffesional and i knew that if i used photoshop effectively, i could make it look like a real advert.















Photoshop Draft 1

Now personally i think this is a lot better!
I moved the title of the album up into the trees so that it could be seen easier.
I made all the features of an advert a part of the picture rather than being situated on a black boarder.
I made sure the colours of the typography linked with the colours in the image.
Also the size of the typography varies, showing which has the highest importance - biggest words are the name of the band, name of the album and release date. These are the basic things an audience needs to know.
Then i have the hmv logo in the corner to show where the audience can buy the album from.
Using a blio code like Noel Gallagher's advertisement to make sure i'm using new technology in order to get my audience's (15 - 25) attention. Most people this age will have a smart phone or android and therefore will be able to watch this 'exclusive content' - which could pursuade them to buy the album.




Photoshop Draft 2:

Moved Title of Album and made it bigger and in black so it's stands out, rather than blends into, the picture.
Changed the font of the reviews - however i feel like the NME review is in the wrong place as it merges in with the clouds and it quite hard to see at one point.
Added the date of a gig at the bottom, like Zulu Winter's advert in order to get that specific gig more publicity - also a cheap way to sell a gig, without having to create a seperate poster.
Moved 'out now' up to have the girl in between the words, made it bigger - yet again just so it stands out more.









Photoshop Final Draft:

Change in font of reviews and gig date.
Addition of star rating.
Change in colour of reviews and magazine names.
Added information, such as 'including the hit singles' and where to by the album 'downloads available from...'
Added record label logo, as this is a common feature on adverts.
